Companion Core

Companion Core is the runtime that maintains a Companion's identity and coordinates memory, foundation models and Souls.

It is the part of the Almaia stack responsible for keeping a Companion consistent across time, devices and modalities.

What it is not

  • Not a prompt template.
  • Not tied to a single foundation model provider.

In practice

Switching the underlying model should not change who Lena is. Companion Core is what makes that true.

Frequently asked

What breaks without a Companion Core?
Identity drift: the same product feels like a different entity across sessions, devices or model upgrades.
